About Me
I’m a Computational Cancer Biologist applying multi-omics data and machine learning within translational medicine, supporting precision oncology programs that turn bench findings into clinical decisions. Until June 2026 I developed this work at the Department of Biomedicine, University of Basel and University Hospital Basel.
- Biomarker discovery in gynecological cancers, combining whole-genome sequencing (including PacBio HiFi long reads), single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, and imaging data, with machine learning for patient stratification and personalized treatment
- Open-source tools: drugsens (R/CRAN) and vcf-reformatter (Rust/Bioconda, 90% faster VCF preprocessing)
- Teaching: R and cancer genomics, with recent courses for SIB and Physalia
Community
I started and organise BioData Basel, a community for people working with biological data in and around Basel: meetups, talks, and a place to share ideas across academia and industry.
Key Achievements
Cancer Diagnostics Breakthrough
ATR-FTIR spectra discriminating healthy vs. cancer patients from urine with >90% accuracy (2025)
Software Engineering
Published CRAN packages and Rust CLI tools, reducing data analysis and VCF preprocessing time by over 90%
